We are on the south side of Indianapolis, one mile south of the 465 exit on US31 about 2 miles north of Greenwood, Indiana. We teach guitar, drums, piano, bass guitar, violin, cello, voice ukulele, mandolin and more. Lessons are private 1 on 1 and are normally 30 minutes long. Read about our lessons for kids.

We have a lot of available times for you to schedule your lessons. We are open from 11am to 9pm Monday through Saturday.

Who we teach
We have students as young as 5 years old learning to play or sing. About 1/3 of our students are adults between the ages of 25 and 65 The majority of our students are beginners of all ages, but we do have a few students who have been playing guitar for several years and have hit a plateau with their learning and need some guidance and motivation.
Lesson length
Most music lessons are 30 minutes and given 1 time per week. I recommend that all beginners start with 30 minute lessons. Some quick learners may want to increase lesson times to 45 minutes or an hour. I have several advanced guitar students who appreciate being here for an entire hour weekly. It gives them time to review, learn new things and spend a large amount of time just jamming and working on lead improvisation.

Classical guitar lessons with standard repertoire from the Hal Leonard Classical Method.
Rock, blues, pop music, classic rock, metal, classical, gospel, contemporary worship.
Blues, rock, metal solo improvisation. We have standard voice instruction, we have rock and roll singing lessons, you can learn rhythm guitar, you name it and we'll teach it to you.
Reading Music including Tablature, Standard Notation and Chord Charts.
Music Theory - Primary chords in every key, chord theory, Nashville Number System, chord families, scales, modes, improvisation.
Every student is different and we strive adapt to each student's individual learning styles. We also strive to teach the student in the style that they desire to play or sing.
Lessons are scheduled by appointment, once scheduled the student will have the same lesson time weekly. The teaching hours are generally 1:00pm until 9:00 PM or later, Tuesday through Saturday.
Located on the south side on Indianapolis in US 31, The Mike Middleton Guitar Academy offers private music lessons in guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, Piano, brass, woodwinds, mandolin and banjo to students of all ages.

You don't need an acoustic piano to get started on piano lessons. Many students begin with a keyboard that can be purchased inexpensively. Later they may upgrade to a nice digital piano. The important thing is that the students get started with something.
​
Drum students can begin with a set of drumsticks and a practice pad. Acoustic drums can be very noisy so many students get an electronic set of drums to start with. Headphones can be used with electron drums. Modern electronic drums emulate the feel and sound of real drums very well. Some electronic drums are made with mesh heads which replicate the feel of an actual drum head.

We have room here for parents or guests to either sit in on the lessons or to wait in another room.

We are fewer than 2 miles south of the 465 Exit to US 31. We are conveniently located to anyone on the south side of Indianapolis and with easy access to 465 and US 31. We are not a long drive from downtown Indianapolis. If you need guitar lessons in Greenwood, we are a short drive north of Greenwood on US 31.
4. Shopping and dining choices.
You will find great shopping and dining near our guitar academy along US 31 to the north and to the south toward Greenwood. The Greenwood Park Mall is about 7 minutes directly south of us on US 31. If you'd like to grab dinner before or after your lesson there are numerous restaurants close by.
5. Month to Month lessons.
The Mike Middleton Guitar Academy does not require semester minimums for lessons. Every student here is on a month-to-month basis. You can even take 1 paid lesson before committing to your first month of guitar, ukulele, mandolin, banjo or bass guitar lessons.

6. A comfortable waiting room for parents.
We have a spacious and comfortable waiting area for parents. Instead of waiting in a music retail store showroom, we have a nice waiting area for you with wi-fi, we have toys for kids, coloring books and games. We also provide large observation windows for every room so that you can watch your child's lesson while you wait. Or if you prefer, you can sit in on the lessons at anytime.
