On a Mission to introduce music to Indianapolis.

The Mike Middleton Guitar Academy is on a mission to introduce music into the daily lives of the community of south Indianapolis, to nearby Greenwood and the surrounding metropolitan areas. We strive to give each student the best musical education that we possibly can.

The Mike Middleton Guitar Academy currently has over 45 weekly music students. While the majority of our students play acoustic and electric guitar, we do have a few students taking bass guitar, piano, ukulele, mandolin and banjo lessons.

We not only teach students how to play guitar and other instruments. We teach them how to perform and if they wish, how to sing while playing their favorite songs. Our teachers have years of performing and teaching experience and are current gigging musicians.

Here students really learn about music. There's a difference between learning guitar and really learning about the art of music. We implement a little theory and a lot of technique which are both something that many teachers ignore entirely.

Sometimes parents and students are impatient to learn songs so technique and a deeper knowledge of the instrument is unfortunately sacrificed. We use a standardized curriculum which covers fundamentals of guitar, theory and a deeper knowledge of the fret board. We teach students how to interact with other musicians. However, we strive to make things fun. We encourage students and help them to enjoy the lessons. We teach students their favorite songs, but we first lay a solid foundation of knowledge which leads them being great musicians.

Learning music is not only beneficial to the brain but can improve academic skills, coordination, social skills and it redefines discipline and patience. Music gives the students stress release. It will help you to get your mind off of things and to simply enjoy yourself and your music, it will keep you off your phone or other devices and truly occupy your mind with something very beneficial.

Music instructors should love their work and recognize that each student is different. Each student has different interests, different problems that will arise and each student requires a unique approach which depends on their learning styles. We strive to find the student's learning style and to give them the most benefit out of lessons that we possibly can.

We are passionate with what we do and we want to give the student every bit of our attention for every second that we spend with them. We are very attentive to the needs of the students and parents and we are all extremely devoted to the progress of our students. Our experienced staff wants to offer the best possible lessons to our students. We want to give each student more than their money's worth with music education and skills.
